Christys' Black 'Devon' bowler hat made from 100% fine fur felt. The Christys' bowler is a hat of substance made with the firm but not solid crown, cushioned inner headband and traditional black grosgrain bow. The black Devon bowler is fully lined with the distinctive red Christys' lining with the luxury of a super comfortable inner headband, designed for stability and a good fit. The Devon is the same shape as all our Christys' bowler hats and made in the traditional fur felt.
The bowler hat was designed in 1850 for Edward Coke to protect the heads of his staff while horse riding. Christys' of London were founded in the UK nearly two and a half centuries ago, and as such were one of the first makers of the British bowler.
